Reasons why we gain weight in the cold season. How to fight them?

Drinks.

In summer we consume a lot of water, but in winter we start drinking more and more lattes or some other warm drinks. Plain latte is ok, but we add some syrup and eat dessert in addition. Do you see what I mean? Such warming up snack will add 500-700 calories to your menu! This is the first reason!

What should we do?

First of all control the consumption of hot drinks. And give preference to different sorts of tea and drink them plain, without sugar or syrup. If this option sounds boring for you, you can add some lemon, ginger or sea buckthorn – it will be way healthier and tastier. And it will definitely warms you as good as ginger latte.

Sedentary lifestyle.

Do you agree that now we need a serious reason to go out? And there is no desire to do something just for enjoying the weather or nice walk. And we just sit at home or at work without being active.

What should we do?

If there is no opportunity to be outside, you may find the ways to move inside. For example, you can go go the gym! Or you can attend dances, yoga… The choice is huge! It depends on your desire. And put on something warm if you decide to go for a walk in the park.)

Snacks.

When we are at home we get too much free time. And even if we don’t have too much free time, we still feel like we need to snack a little bit. Instead of fresh fruits, we choose cookies and sweets. We desperately need them in winter time.

What should we do?

Basically, the best wayout is to find the alternative to cookies and long pastime at home. Dried fruits or nuts are great. You won’t feel hungry for a long time and you will get more energy without gaining extra kilos.

Short day.

Yes, it’s already dark at 4 pm, but it’s not the reason to end your day. We have gone far from animal instincts, which force us to follow the biological clock and heavily depend on sun. But 18.00 or 19.00 really feels like late night and the productivity decreases. That’s why you spend the rest of the day watching TV shows.

What should we do?

Try to get rid of the stereotype that sunset means the end of the day and there is no need to be productive and active. Darkness is not a problem. You can always turn on the light.)
